BULLETIN BOARD NOTICE
Dear Brothers & Sisters:
The election of union officers for IBEW Local 2150 is currently underway and many of the candidates are actively campaigning. It is important to again mention that the U.S. Department of Labor strictly prohibits the use of employer or union funds, equipment, or services that promote a particular candidate in a union election.
In other words, if any candidate running for a union office uses an employer- or union-owned phone, copy machine, fax machine, e-mail or inter-office mail system to advance their personal campaign, it is a violation of the federal law. If this happens, the outcome of our election can be challenged. If the challenge is upheld, Local 2150 would be re-running the contested portion of the election over again. This would be very expensive for everyone.
If any union member receives correspondence that promotes a particular candidate and the information came via an employer-owned or union system (electronic or paper), I advise the following:
ï€ Notify the election judge. (Contact information appears below.)
ï€ Do not pass along, post or forward personal campaign literature to other union members if the literature came from an employer- or union-owned system. Instead, send or forward the information to the election judge. If actual hard copies were received via inter-office mail, send these items and the original envelopes they came in to the election judge. It is permitted and perfectly legal for candidates to distribute their personal campaign literature using the U.S. mail or hand-delivering it when they are on their own time.
Also remember that campaign materials should only be posted on union bulletin boards.
Watch for your ballot in the U.S. mail and remember to VOTE! Ballots were mailed out on June 4, 2021, and will be picked up at the post office box on June 21, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. If you expect to be on vacation during this period and want your ballot mailed to a different address, you must contact the Union office no later than June 11, 2021 to provide the address to which you want your ballot sent. If you do not receive a ballot by June 14, 2021, please call the Union office to make arrangements for you to receive one.
*****RETURN YOUR BALLOTS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.*****
TALLY COUNT WILL BE AVAILABLE UPON COMPLETION OF THE ELECTION COMMITTEE'S BALLOT COUNT, WHICH WILL TAKE AT LEAST TWO DAYS.
