We Energies Line Mechanic Bonus

Dear Brothers & Sisters:

LINE MECHANIC RETENTION BONUS PAYMENT - CLARIFICATION

There have been questions about the bonuses for certain Journeyman Line Mechanics and for certain Lead Line Mechanics, Line Crew Leaders and Troubleshooters. Communications for these bonuses were vague in some respects and inconsistent in others. Following is a clarification.

For LLMs, LCLs and TSs as of December 14, 2016:

1. Each employee who remains actively employed at We Energies in the Line Crew Leader, Leading Line Mechanic, or Troubleshooter occupation as of December 14, 2016, will receive a $4,000 payment, plus an additional amount required in recognition of overtime worked subject to the following:

a. The additional amount is based on overtime hours worked during 2016 pay periods 1-24, which include hours worked December 13, 2015, through November 19, 2016. The formula to figure the additional amount is: $4000 x (straight-time hours + (# of overtime hours x.1.5))/straight-time hours. For example: $4000 x (1920 straight-time hours + (346.7 overtime hours x.1.5))/1920 = $5083.44. Note: The formula results in an annualized percentage of overtime worked to apply to the bonus because it compares overtime hours during pay periods 1-24 to straight-time hours during that same time period rather than to 2080. This period was selected by the company in order to process and pay out the bonus in the current year. Pay period 1 for 2017 will include the end of December 2016.

b. The company plans to have the calculations completed for inclusion on the December 23, 2016, pay date.

c. Must have an overall individual callout response rate of 35% or greater at the end of the period January 1, 2016, through November 30, 2016.

2. Callout response rate will be calculated using current used methodology. Applicable employees who transfer between any of the aforementioned occupations (including Line Mechanic) during the respective period will have their individual callout response rate based on an aggregate of all occupations they held during such period.

For Max-rated Line Mechanics as of December 14, 2016:

1. Each employee who remains actively employed at We Energies as a max-rated Line Mechanic as of December 14, 2016, will receive a $4,000 payment, plus an additional amount required in recognition of overtime worked subject to the following:

b. The company plans to have the calculations completed for inclusion on the December 23, 2016, pay date.

Update on retention for 2017: I expect to get an answer early in December from the company regarding a potential proposal to cover the remainder of the current contract (through August 15, 2017). I have told them that any offer would need to be voted on by employees subject to the offer.
