To all 2150 members:
It has been an eventful week for some members of Local 2150. We have had 2 major incidents this week a day apart. The first one involved a Line crew that was setting a pole in the primary zone {24.9 kv over 8 kv}. While lowering the new pole into the hole the tip somehow got into the energized primary and at the same time the member that was handling the butt end of the pole got the pole onto his unprotected shoulder and received a shock.
The second incident involved some electricians doing switching in a substation. While raising a ground to place it on a de-energized disconnect, there was a flash. In both instances there were no serious injuries or fatalities. There will be investigations into both incidents.
As we approach the Holiday Season and the end of the year, this seems to be the time where our minds seem to wander. PLEASE take the time to think twice about the job that you are doing, to follow all safety rules and procedures, and carryout your assignments in a safe and efficient manner, so that we ALL go home at the end of the day.
Have a SAFE and Happy Thanksgiving!
